Where we are

Virtually-based

How we started

On average, 3 out of 100 people lose their sense of smell, and the founder, Echo Hui, is one of them.

'I thought to myself, if we could make this odor a number, maybe one could smell again.
We researched and built Arometer, a prototype that collects and digitalizes the odor.'

- Echo Hui, Founder of Arometer
What we do

To give every person that loses their sense of smell and every other person the opportunity to smell again.

Arts and Technology

Through a process of co-creation and curation, we believe the future of scent will be shaped by arts and technology.

Our Goal

Our goal is to create an open platform for artists and scientists to collaboratively explore odor, from creating unique interpretations of scents through art to researching science.

Open your olfactory world and enable a deeper, more delightful sensory experience.

How We Do

Creative Procedure

1
Prototyping

developing a prototype of the sensors that can digitally capture scent. Your olfactory memory can be captured, preserved and relived.

2
Collecting

with the evolution of aroma technology and advancement in digital technology, we are making efforts to learn about digital scents. Like a fingerprint, fingerprints can be a unique identity for humans, odor is one for machines. We are working on collecting multiple scents from our daily lives and trying to expand our scent database.

3
Creating

as part of Arometer's research, the smells will be captured and curated into Hui's collection database. Based on the data, Hui investigates the sense of smell digitally and its relationship to sensory perception. The research is embodied through the creation of new media artwork, Aroma Digits.

4
Inspiring

Arometer allows people to see, feel and understand the daily odors like never before.
